I have always believed in the deep power of storytelling. It has impacted me — the way I see the world, how I move through it, and what I feel in it. Because of that, I have dedicated my career to uplifting stories that would otherwise be pushed to the margins; stories that can shift legislation or someone’s perspective.

These are a few of my favorite projects I’ve had the opportunity to create through the years. There are many more that I am proud of but these continue to reflect the values that live deep in my heartspace. Though I am no longer primarily focused on producing, I am always open to telling stories that strive to create a more compassion and just world.

Undocumented and Unafraid: Forbidden (MTV), Emmy Winner

Undocumented and Unafraid: Forbidden was a PSA we shot as a companion piece for the documentary Forbidden, which profiles Moises Serrano who fell in love with a country that refused to recognize his full humanity — both as an undocumented immigrant and as a gay man. I wanted to expand beyond Moises story, and profile students who were at risk of getting deported after Trump decided to eliminate DACA. I feel honored that these students trusted us to tell their stories, risking their status and freedom. But we all did so to shed a light on their lives and to empower them to use their voice as an act of resistance. Executive Producer, Emmy winner, 2016

Walk-A-Day Series: Biden, Bernie, Warren, and Beto (SEIU)

Walk-A-Day is a longstanding series that SEIU (Services Employees International United) has done for decades to bring awareness to the everyday challenges and struggles that essential workers fact. We always invite elected officials and political candidates to shadow the essential worker so they can see what it truly feels like to walk a day in their shoes. We have had the honor of spotlighting nurse, homecare workers, childcare workers and janitors across the country. Executive Producer, 2020-2022

Owning It (MTV)

Owning It is my favorite original series I made during my time at MTV. It explores the most strange Internet subcultures and spotlights the folks who have made a home out of these communities. My favorite episodes are Tulpamancy, Mermaids and YAOI. Developed by and Executive Producer, 2016

Political Campaigns: Amendment 2 in Florida, Let’s Do It Again Georgia, Change Is Possible (SEIU)

I’ve been able to see the power of storytelling firsthand through working on political campaigns that have shifted people and policy makers into action. I’m proud to say these three video campaigns shifted legislation and awareness around key national and state-level issues.

Our campaign to push for voters to Vote Yes for Amendment 2 in Florida was the only campaign that brought awareness to the need for minimum wage that year. That passed after 15 years of lobbying. Our Let’s Do It Again Georgia campaign highlighted voters of color in Georgia who shared why they were voting for Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to be their representative during the state runoff. This was one of the many blitzes done in coalition and partnership with Stacey Abrams’ New Georgia Project, which led to the eventual election of Warnock and Ossoff into the U.S. Senate. Change is Possible was a nationwide campaign that profiled essential workers across the country and why they were voting for Joe Biden for President. 2020

Original Videos for Social Change (SEIU, Families USA, MTV News)

I love being in the creative space between editorial and advocacy work. What often happens is that I am able to uplift a particular voice, issue or story that wouldn’t otherwise be told. These are some of my favorite pieces I’ve produced over the years. Within these videos, you will find heartfelt stories of immigrants; the lack of coverage in oral care; a generation’s rage after Trump got elected; a retelling of the historic voting rights march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge; and after the shooting of an LGBTQIA+ nightclub shooting in Orlando, a call-to-action to hold Florida’s elected officials accountable for their loose gun safety laws. Executive Producer. 2016-2023.

Cribs on Snapchat (MTV)

I had a vision to bring the classic MTV show “Cribs” back, but in a new form — for Snapchat. We were proud to lead the way in reimagining storytelling through a vertical, mobile-first format — a first of its kind then. This was the most viewed series on Snapchat for a bit, raking up millions of views across the platform for months. Episodes: Steve Aoiki, Von Miller, Nyjah Huston. Developed and Executive Producer, 2018
